The Roman Catholic Church has consistently held fast to the belief in the Real Presence. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

The mode of Christ's presence under the Eucharistic species is unique. It raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as "the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all sacraments tend." In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained." "This presence is called 'real' - by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be 'real' too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present."
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church: paragraph 1374

Eucharistic Adoration is ongoing Adoration of our Lord exposed in the Eucharist. When we as individuals or as a community take time out of our hectic lives and give a little to our Lord, we proclaim to everyone that Jesus, Our Lord, is truly present among us. We attest to the importance of prayer in our lives. The more we avail ourselves of presenting ourselves before the Lord in his Eucharistic Presence, the more we respond to his invitation "Could you not watch one hour with Me?" By our prayer and presence, we bring Christ to His people.

How does one spend an hour before Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament?

This hour Jesus wants you to spend with Him is spent any way you want. You may bring your own prayer books, read the Bible, pray the rosary, or just sit and relax and enjoy the sweet peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of God. You may feel that you cannot pray well. Do not let this discourage you. The mere fact that you take time out at a specific time each week to spend an hour with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament pleases Him very much and is a prayer of great faith. Please remember that Adoration is not just for a day, a week, a month, or a year. Rather, it is for always. It is not temporary, but ongoing, lasting, permanent.

Adoration is open to everyone. Please maintain a disposition of silence and reverence in the chapel. For more information about Eucharistic Adoration or to sign up for an hour, please contact one of the coordinators, Suzi Hendricks or Mary Carter.
